Peter Heine has been competing for the Danish Championship since 1990 and he has won the title twice. This year he trailed Curt Hansen by half a point, but he was one point ahead of the 3 other GM's in the tournament. A solid performance with 3 wins and 5 draws. Peter is currently living as a semi-professional chess player with tournament chess, chess columns and studies. He is also very active in team tournaments, playing in both the Danish, Swedish and German leagues.

Peter played in this year's New York Open, where he achieved a nice result ending on a tied 6th place with 6½/9. He was constantly in the top part of the tournament, and played among others a draw against Alexander Grischuk, one of the other North Sea Cup competitors.

After the North Sea Cup Peter will participate in Bergen Chess International. Other participants are Yakovich (2580), Volzhin (2548), Gausel (2492) og Djurhuus (2484).
